Frasdorf Play Study Tour Reunion Event

03 Oct 2022

Today In Play

After a break of three years, Timberplay are delighted to be able to announce the return of our popular Frasdorf Play Study Tour Reunion event. Join us on Thursday 10th November, at Wallacespace St Pancras.

The event will begin at 6pm with canapes and drinks followed by presentations from Richter Spielgeräte’s Peter Heukin and Harry Harbottle including updates on the news from Frasdorf and on what’s been happening at Timberplay over the last year.

After a break for some food and drink the event will continue with our spotlight presentation from Tania from The Flying Seagull Project, an incredible and inspirational charity, which bring play to children in desperate need in refugee camps, orphanages and warzones around the world. They describe the work they do as: -

‘We share joy worldwide through music, art, circus and dance. Working with vulnerable, abandoned, displaced and poorly people, we run creative sessions to help build confidence, aid childhood development and strengthen communication.’

Charity founder, Ash Perrin, sums it up perfectly in his TED talk:-

“Bringing back play for children in crisis can have such a profound effect as to literally change the direction of someone’s life. For children who’ve lost everything; lost their homes, missed their education, lost members of their family, sometimes even more heartbreakingly, in front of their own eyes lost members of their own family, returning to a state of childhood can be a matter of life and death”

The Timberplay Team are big fans of the awesome work that The Flying Seagull Project do – every child should have the right to play and Ash and his team manage to deliver this within incredibly challenging environments. We know you will find this an illuminating presentation and hope that it will help remind us all why play is so important. The event should finish at around 9pm, but you are welcome to join us afterwards for a drink.
