Focus: Large structures, natural play, climbing & sand play
The Brief, From Vision to Reality
As a prestige resort, Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare wanted to elevate its family offering with a play space that matched the luxury and environmental values of the brand.
Key Objectives
- Create a distinctive, high-end play destination for families
- Use natural, sustainable materials with minimal environmental impact
- Deliver challenge and engagement for a wide age range
- Design a space capable of supporting large numbers of children
- Integrate the playground without disturbing the surrounding landscape

Design and Play Value Expertise
Concept
A flowing, natural play landscape built around robust timber structures, sand and movement — encouraging exploration, challenge and social interaction within an untouched tropical setting.
Showcase
- Installed without cutting or relocating a single tree
- Designed for a humid, tropical climate
- Materials chosen for durability without chemical treatment
- Large-scale structure integrated into uneven, organic terrain
Play Equipment
- Richter Spielgeräte Climbing Forest (bespoke scale)
- Look-out tower with slide descent
Play Value -The Value of Risk and Sensory Play
In this project, we intentionally focused on perceived risk through height, movement and climbing complexity. This allows children to test their physical limits, develop confidence and build resilience, all within a safe, well-considered environment.
The generous sand areas support social and sensory play. Children naturally collaborate, dig, build and problem-solve together key foundations for communication and creativity.
Materials
Mountain Larch and Oak were chosen for their natural durability in humid conditions, offering warmth, texture and a strong connection to nature. Combined with stainless steel and sand surfacing, the space delivers both longevity and rich sensory experience.
